Heating & Air in Mansfield

Mansfield at a glance

Mansfield is a city of 4,714 people (2020), the parish seat of DeSoto Parish and part of the Shreveport-Bossier metro area, covering about 3.7 square miles. The Mansfield State Historic Site south of town marks the 1864 Civil War battle fought nearby.

What that means for your heating and air

Mansfield has many older homes and rentals, often with aging AC or a mix of central air and window units. AC repairs and replacements are common; see AC repair. Older rentals benefit from regular filter changes and tune-ups. Courthouse square buildings and older homes nearby often have tall ceilings and big windows that are hard to cool.

Parish seat

Courthouse business and schools bring a steady population into town on weekdays. Logging and natural gas have both shaped the local economy, and many homes are heated with gas furnaces. DeSoto Parish offices and schools are based here.

South of the city

Mansfield sits south of Shreveport in rolling pine country, with Stonewall and Keithville between it and the city. Older homes from the town's long history often have ducts that were added after the house was built; see attic ductwork. Interstate 49 runs past town, linking it to Shreveport to the north.
